The techniques that Jay teaches will allow the client to separate themselves from the competition and land a better job more quickly.
Why an interview coach is needed:
Many recruiters are sincere regarding this aspect of their job, but not all of them. With the “Great Recession” taking its toll on the economy, the job market has been flooded with qualified candidates. To separate yourself from the competition, it is critical that you take control of your search, arm yourself with the tools necessary for a successful job search and surround yourself with the best people possible to land that next job.
I will spend one-on-one time with you to understand your past experience and your future goals and to thoroughly assess your strengths and any areas for improvement. Together, we will design a personal playbook that will sharpen your focus and enable you to effectively articulate why YOU are the solution to your next employer’s challenges.
Below are 10 reasons why an interview coach is a critical component of your successful search:
- You have been employed with the same company for many years and have not had to interview for a position outside of your company. Now, you find yourself out in the job market and you are unsure as to the best course of action. I was once in this position and I can teach you the skills necessary to get out and find your next job.
- You are a recent graduate and do not believe you have been properly prepared for the job search. I have a long history of hiring talented people and a passion for helping others. I can prepare you to take those first steps toward landing your first job and beginning your career.
- You do not seem to be able to get past the initial phone screen / interview and are not sure why that is or what you might be doing wrong. I will teach you the proper etiquette for phone interviews that will result in follow up opportunities.
- You have been on many interviews which have resulted in either no offers or offers that do not interest you. I have interviewed hundreds of job candidates over the years. I will provide objective, constructive feedback to correct any mistakes you might be making and get you focused on achieving the results you deserve.
- Your interviewer seems disinterested and the interviews seem to be cut short. I will teach you how to engage the interviewer and differentiate yourself from the other candidates.
- You want to change either industries or functions yet no one is giving you a chance to even interview for these opportunities. I will help you to position yourself as a viable candidate for consideration in the new field.
- Your resume and cover letter are not opening the doors you want or expect. I can help you craft a resume that is targeted and I will help you channel that resume directly into the right hands.
- Speaking in front of influential people can be intimidating. I will increase your confidence by ensuring you are prepared for not only difficult interviews but also different types of interview styles.
- You are uncomfortable explaining why you left your last position. This can be a hard question to answer effectively. I will teach you how to tackle this “elephant in the room” question effectively and confidently.
- Discussing the compensation requirements for a position is always tricky. When is it appropriate to discuss compensation? Are you asking for too much or too little? I will help you navigate this essential aspect to your new position.
